Quickly whipped up with two flavoursome ingredients - date syrup and tahini - and topped with a crunchy scatter of toasted sesame seeds and sprinkle of flaky sea salt, Date Sesame Crunch Toast is a breakfast delight for lovers of all things sesame!
I’m a huge fan of Tahin Pekmez, a Turkish spread that blends various kinds of fruit molasses and tahini together in one convenient jar, and pekmez on toast is a household favourite for breakfast. As not everyone is within reach of a Turkish supermarket, the next best thing is this Date Sesame Crunch Toast, combining naturally sweet, and more readily available, date syrup with tahini into a moreish breakfast toast that takes moments to put together.

What is date syrup ?
If you’re not already familiar with date syrup, it's past time to get acquainted! Thick, syrupy, earthy, and sweet, date syrup is an ancient natural sweetener made solely from dates and water. Sometimes labeled as date molasses, date honey, or silan, date syrup is readily available at natural food stores and Middle Eastern grocers. Find out more about date syrup.
How to make Date Sesame Crunch Toast
Only a few moments and a few ingredients separates you from your new favourite breakfast toast. Start by slathering, spreading, or drizzling equal parts of date syrup and tahini onto toasted whole grain bread. A sprinkle of roasted sesame seeds, which I buy already toasted for pure convenience, and a touch of flaky sea salt, add nutty crunch, and there you have it! A breakfast toast that is sweet with the flavour of dates, balanced with the nutty, earthy flavours of tahini, and topped off with roasty toasty seeds and a balancing hit of crunchy sea salt; breakfast and snack bliss!
Want more than toast? Add a smoothie!
If you have the inclination, the appetite, or the occasion, Date Sesame Crunch Toast is beautifully accompanied by a smoothie for a more substantial meal. My Green Sunshine Smoothie would make a lovely pairing; quick, easy, and delicious, this vibrantly green smoothie features the tropical flavours of mango, pineapple, banana, and fresh orange. Fruity, creamy, and sweet, with the zesty freshness of lime juice, and a subtle zing from fresh ginger, a tall glass of Green Sunshine Smoothie is sure to help brighten up a dreary winter’s day (or any day for that matter).
